Olajengbesi alleges plot to make Osun voters swear oath for Wole Oke

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –

The Accord Party candidate for the Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives, Pelumi Olajengbesi, has raised the alarm over an alleged plan to make voters in Esa-Oke, Osun State, swear an oath to vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Hon. Wole Oke, in the forthcoming election.

In a post on his Facebook page, Olajengbesi alleged that voters from polling units 1 to 5 in Ward 7, Esa-Oke, had been invited to Oluomo Plaza, opposite Saint Joseph, for the exercise scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. on Tuesday.

He alleged that four herbalists had been engaged for the exercise, during which participants would be required to cross a charmed gun, speak to Àfọ̀ṣẹ́, drink specially prepared water and swear that they would die if they failed to vote for Oke.

The Accord candidate, who claimed that each participant would be paid N10,000 for taking the oath, urged voters to collect the money but refuse to participate in the exercise.

“I know it will be difficult for people not to go because of the hunger in the land. I urge all voters in Esa-Oke tomorrow to collect the money but refuse to take any oath. Everyone must insist on entering with their phones. Do not submit yourselves to the devil because of money,” he said.

Olajengbesi also appealed to parents and guardians to caution their children against participating in the alleged exercise, warning that no political ambition was worth putting anyone’s life at risk.

He said, “Wole Oke has publicly spoken about his children attending some of the best schools in the world. The children of Esa-Oke equally deserve safety, opportunity, and the freedom to make their own choices. Our people must be free to vote without fear”.

He further disclosed that some individuals had proposed organising a similar oath-taking exercise in his support, with participants to receive N10,000 each. However, he said he rejected the proposal, insisting that nobody should be compelled to swear an oath to vote for him.
