KOK Mandate launches grassroots campaign for Tinubu, Hamzat in Ejigbo
The KOK Mandate Group’s Independent Campaign Group (ICG) has deployed 372 Polling Booth Ambassadors (PBAs) to 186 polling units in Ejigbo Local Council Development Area of Lagos State to canvass support for President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat.
The deployment took place on Sunday, with each ambassador receiving a N10,000 mobilisation grant from the group. The group leader and former chairman of Ejigbo LCDA urged the ambassadors to use the funds prudently for campaign activities, including pasting posters and engaging voters registered with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The group also unveiled 10,000 explainer cards highlighting 50 achievements of Tinubu’s administration to equip the ambassadors with information for voter mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general election. It also announced plans to distribute Hamzat’s governorship manifesto.
Speaking during the training session, Hon. Bamigbetan said the programme prioritised micro-targeting of verified voters, describing the approach as more cost-effective and time-efficient than door-to-door visits and roadshow campaigns.
He explained that the ambassadors would use INEC’s voters’ register to identify and engage registered voters in their respective polling units. They would also document the outcomes of their engagements, with a monitoring team following up on voters who did not respond positively. The 10-week programme requires each ambassador to cover the full list assigned to their polling unit.
Bamigbetan described the KOK Mandate Group as more than an electoral platform, saying it was established to nurture democratic values and build the capacity of members of the APC. He said the group would remain active beyond elections, sustaining grassroots engagement rather than operating only during campaign periods.
He cited the distribution of free school uniforms, furniture and meals to pupils during his tenure as chairman of Ejigbo LCDA as initiatives that helped build goodwill and electoral support for the group. He also described the KOK Mandate as “a laboratory for democracy”, stressing that civic education and capacity-building should precede the assumption of public office.
During a question-and-answer session, Bamigbetan clarified that the ambassadors’ responsibilities were limited to voter canvassing, while the deployment of election-day agents remained the responsibility of the party and its candidates.
