Lagos pledges to support London-Lagos rider Okedeyi in fight against polio

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, on Tuesday pledged to support Rotarian Olatunji Emmanuel Okedeyi in his effort to create awareness and raise funds for the eradication of polio.
The initiative which is tagged “End Polio Now,” will entail Okedeyi embarking on a motorbike ride from London to Lagos.
While addressing the rider and his End Polio Now team, during a courtesy visit to his office, the commissioner disclosed that polio is a kind of dangerous disease that requires the collective efforts of everyone to combat.
Speaking on the project’s goal, he noted that the initiative is interesting and laudable, especially due to the fact that it entails creating awareness across countries. Omotoso went further to salute the project and courage of the rider/campaigner of the ‘”End Polio Now” project, wishing him success.
Briefing the commissioner on the details of the trip, Okedeyi reiterated that it is intended to raise awareness for the “End Polio Now” project, and mobilise at least one hundred thousand pounds for polio eradication.
According to him, the road trip will commence at Kent in London and run through France- Spain- Morrocco-Mauritania- Guinea- Senegal-Ghana- Togo-Benin Republic to Nigeria amid visiting various rotary clubs within these countries to solicit for funds.
The convener further indicated that upon arrival in Nigeria, he will embark on a medical outreach programme in partnership with over 50 volunteers at Mushin Local Government Area on July 17, 2026, to render free optical, dental, physiotherapy healthcare services to the public.
He ended his remark by revealing that the medical outreach in Mushin will be empowered by medical supplies worth one hundred thousand dollars, which will be supplied by donors.
