Lagos State Police Command mourns DCP Khan Salihu, hails legacy
The Lagos State Police Command has announced the death of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Khan Salihu, who until his demise served as the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Finance and Administration in the command.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, Salihu passed away on Monday, June 15, 2026.
The command described the late officer as a dedicated, disciplined and highly committed professional whose career was marked by integrity, loyalty and exceptional service to the Nigeria Police Force.
It noted that throughout his years in service, Salihu distinguished himself through exemplary leadership, diligence and an unwavering commitment to duty, earning the respect of colleagues and subordinates alike.
The statement further highlighted his vast administrative experience and contributions to the effective management and operational efficiency of the Lagos State Police Command, describing his death as a significant loss to the organisation.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Olaiwola Fatai, expressed shock over the passing of the senior officer and extended condolences to his family, friends, colleagues and loved ones.
The command prayed for God to grant the bereaved family the strength to bear the loss and for the repose of the deceased officer’s soul, noting that his years of selfless service to the nation would not be forgotten.
According to the police, DCP Khan Salihu will be remembered for his humility, professionalism and dedication to public service, with his legacy expected to continue inspiring officers and men of the Lagos State Police Command.
