Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, has congratulated Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on her 64th birthday, praising her as a compassionate leader dedicated to the welfare of Nigerian citizens.
In a statement issued by his media office, Speaker Obasa lauded Senator Tinubu’s unwavering courage and commitment to building a better society, highlighting her support for President Bola Tinubu and her belief in equality and justice.
Obasa described the First Lady as a “shining light” and a model of service to the nation. “The First Lady’s love for Nigeria and her roles in national unity and development are worthy of emulation by every well-meaning citizen,” he said.
“She has continued to touch lives across the country, particularly lifting women and children out of poverty.”
He further praised Senator Tinubu’s philanthropic efforts, noting that her contributions to national development, particularly in uplifting the underprivileged, have earned her a prominent place in Nigeria’s history.
“Senator Tinubu has continued to etch her name in history as a politician of repute, a champion of the downtrodden, and an advocate for youth, the elderly, and good governance,” Obasa added.
Reflecting on her time as First Lady of Lagos State, Obasa recalled her enduring role in championing democracy, including her involvement in supporting those who fought for the restoration of the June 12, 1993, presidential election mandate.
“As a true mother, she ensured that those exiled during the fight against the annulment of the June 12, 1993, election result won by Chief MKO Abiola were adequately cared for,” he stated.
Obasa also acknowledged her efforts to uplift the children of the poor through initiatives like the Spelling Bee Competition, which he credited for shaping the lives of future leaders.
“As a Senator, she consistently advocated for the progress of Lagos, and through her New Era Foundation, many Nigerians have been given new hope,” Obasa added.
On behalf of his family and colleagues in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Speaker Obasa extended his prayers for continued grace, good health, and divine wisdom for Senator Oluremi Tinubu as she celebrates her 64th birthday.
