National Art Theatre wears a new look
By Tosin Brown
Four years after the Central Bank of Nigeria, took over the National Art Theatre to change the fortunes of the dwindling national edifice, all seems to be on the right path.
In 2021, ex-president Buhari’s media aide, Tolu Ogunlesi confirmed that the rehabilitation and redevelopment of the national monument kicked off.
It was declared that the rehabilitation and redevelopment of the National Arts Theatre, Iganmu, Lagos, will incur a $50 million investment which will be financed by the Bankers Committee in a private public partnership arrangement.
Three years down the line, the national monument is beginning to take the shape of a world class arts and theatre centre.
A recent guided tour of the almost complete National Theatre Igunmu Lagos shows an aesthetic and world class masterpiece that has been done by the building contractors.
The project is scheduled for completion in 2024.
