The Director General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, has commended music star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, for his remarkable achievements in the music industry and for making Nigeria proud on the global stage.

Issa-Onilu praised Davido for his patriotic remarks during a recent interview on the French-speaking CKO Channel, where the singer encouraged visitors to experience Lagos firsthand rather than rely on stereotypes.

The statement partly read: “News of your patriotic stand during your recent interview on the CKO Channel, where you urged visitors to experience Lagos themselves and stated, ‘Everywhere is dangerous! The Congo is dangerous, Benin is dangerous, Paris is dangerous, everywhere is dangerous. Even in Atlanta, you could go somewhere and get shot, so that makes it dangerous,’ reached us at the National Orientation Agency with great delight.

“It is true that we need to tell our own positive stories. We need to project our national identity in a way that leaves the world in no doubt about who we are and how blessed our country is, despite our challenges.”

The NOA emphasized the importance of promoting a positive narrative about Nigeria and revealed that it has developed a “National Identity Project” anchored on the National Values Charter — a reciprocal commitment aimed at shaping both global perception of Nigerians and how Nigerians perceive one another.

The agency, while assuring its commitment to a better Nigeria, also urged the “With You” crooner to continue projecting the country’s positive image to the world.
