Obasa’s allies, Egunjobi, Yusuf expelled from Lagos APC

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has expelled Chief Ganiyu Kolawole Egunjobi and Mr. Azeez Yusuf over alleged anti-party activities and disloyalty to the party.

The state APC Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, announced the expulsion in a statement issued on Wednesday.

Egunjobi and Yusuf contested the APC primaries for Agege Constituency I and Agege Constituency II, respectively, in the 2026 Lagos State House of Assembly nomination process but failed to secure the party’s tickets.

According to the statement, the two subsequently obtained tickets from another political party rather than accept the outcome of the APC primaries or seek redress through the party’s established mechanisms.

The Lagos APC described the action as a repudiation of their obligations as party members and an unacceptable act of anti-party activity and disloyalty.

The party also described their purported resignations from the APC as a “belated and face-saving attempt” to pre-empt disciplinary consequences, stressing that membership could not be treated as a platform to be abandoned after an unsuccessful primary.

Ojelabi said the party invoked Article 9(5)(II) of the APC Constitution, as amended in 2022, in disciplining the two former members. He added that the APC remained committed to internal democracy, discipline, loyalty and adherence to its rules.

The party declared that Egunjobi and Yusuf were no longer APC members and had no authority to speak for, represent or transact business on behalf of the Lagos APC or the national party.

It urged members, supporters, stakeholders and the general public to take note of their changed status and refrain from dealing with them as APC representatives or authorised agents.
