APGA adopts Tinubu as 2027 presidential candidate, targets 50% votes in Anambra

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has endorsed President Bola Tinubu for re-election in 2027, declaring him its preferred candidate for the presidential election.

Anambra State Governor and APGA national leader, Chukwuma Soludo, announced the party’s decision on Friday in Awka during the inauguration of its national campaign for the 2027 general election.

Soludo said the endorsement was informed by Tinubu’s commitment to the South-East, particularly Anambra State, as well as his administration’s efforts to address some of the challenges facing the region.

He recalled that Tinubu, while serving as governor of Lagos State, appointed several Anambra indigenes to strategic positions in the state.

“APGA has no presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections and will, therefore, adopt President Tinubu as its preferred candidate,” Soludo said.

“Today, we adopt the APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, as our candidate.

“We don’t have a presidential candidate; Tinubu is our candidate.”
The governor said APGA’s decision was consistent with its political arrangement in previous election cycles, when the party supported the presidential candidate of the ruling party.

He disclosed that Tinubu secured about 5,000 votes in Anambra during the 2023 presidential election but expressed confidence that the president could secure significantly more support in 2027.
