Olaopa hails JAMB registrar over success of civil service promotion exam

The Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC), Prof. Tunji Olaopa, has commended the Registrar and Chief Executive of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Segun Aina, for supporting the successful conduct of the directorate-level promotion examination for federal civil servants.

Olaopa gave the commendation when he visited Aina at his office in Bwari, Abuja, after the conclusion of the local phase of the examination conducted by JAMB at its main centre on Tuesday.

Earlier, Aina had visited the examination centre to monitor activities, where he met with Olaopa and federal commissioners of the FCSC, Mr Henry Idahagbon, who represents Edo, Ekiti and Ondo states, and Dr Hussaini Adamu, who represents the Federal Capital Territory and Niger State.

The promotion examination, which began on Monday, was conducted at eight centres in Abuja and across the six geopolitical zones of the country — South-West, South-East, South-South, North-West, North-East and North-Central.

Olaopa, after visiting the examination centres on Monday, said the exercise was 98 per cent successful.

With the conclusion of the local phase, the foreign phase of the examination is scheduled to hold on October 10 in the United Kingdom, Canada, China and Egypt.

The FCSC, under Olaopa’s leadership, introduced computer-based testing as the mode of promotion examination for federal civil servants in 2025.

The examination is conducted in partnership with JAMB as part of efforts to modernise the promotion process in the federal civil service.
