First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has called on Nigerians to look beyond political affiliations and unite to build a strong, safe, and prosperous nation.
Speaking during her visit to traditional rulers in Enugu State as part of a two-day working tour, the First Lady described Nigeria’s diversity as a blessing that should be harnessed for national growth.
Senator Tinubu used the occasion to advocate for stronger community involvement in addressing health challenges such as cervical cancer, tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, and female genital mutilation. She called on traditional rulers to support these efforts, describing them as vital links between the government and the grassroots.
Highlighting her Renewed Hope Initiative, the First Lady announced upcoming programs such as “Flow with Confidence,” aimed at ensuring no adolescent girl misses school due to menstrual issues, and the launch of Environment Clubs in schools to promote environmental responsibility among students.

The Chairman of the Enugu State Traditional Rulers Council, HRH Samuel Asadu, commended the First Lady’s initiatives and acknowledged the state’s progress in eliminating harmful cultural practices against women. He also praised President Bola Tinubu’s leadership and affirmed the support of traditional rulers, declaring, “For us here in Enugu, we the traditional rulers say, no vacancy in Aso Rock.”
At a separate event, the First Lady concluded the nationwide distribution of professional kits to midwives across the six geopolitical zones. The ceremony in Enugu marked the final leg of a campaign that began in January 2025.
“Today we are in Enugu for the South East, the last zone to receive its allocated share,” she announced. “So far, we have distributed 50,000 scrubs and 50,000 pairs of crocs to support midwives across the country.”
Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, hailed the First Lady’s efforts in advancing healthcare, likening her to “the Florence Nightingale of this time.” He also praised President Tinubu’s leadership, calling him “an epitome of courage and dedication.”
