Ondo govt sets up committee to review Olokola Free Trade Zone project

The Ondo State Government has inaugurated a technical committee to review issues surrounding the proposed Olokola Free Trade Zone project and recommend the next steps for its implementation.
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa announced the constitution of the committee on Monday, describing it as part of efforts to reassess the status of the long-delayed economic initiative.
According to a statement issued by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, the committee is expected to examine legal, administrative and operational matters relating to the project.
The statement further disclosed that the committee will be chaired by Chief Bode Sunmonu, while the Chief Executive Officer of the Ondo State Development and Investment Promotion Agency, Emmanuel Omomowo, will serve as secretary.
Other members include Yinka Orokoto, Sola Adebisi, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, Idowu Ojo, and the Director of ONDIPA, Femi Akarakiri.
Based on the statement, the committee has also been mandated to carry out a comprehensive review of all issues affecting the free trade zone and provide recommendations to the state government.
Its terms of reference include reviewing legal frameworks, engaging stakeholders, verifying land-related matters, addressing community concerns and facilitating inter-state collaboration where necessary.
The government further noted that the committee would equally handle any additional assignments relating to the project as may be directed by the state government.
