Osun 2026: ADC reportedly picks ex- speaker, Salaam as guber candidate

Reports have emerged suggesting that former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Dr. Najeem Folasayo Salaam, may have secured the African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship ticket ahead of the 2026 election.
According to sources, a meeting reportedly held in Lagos on Friday was said to have favoured Salaam over another contender and former Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Moshood Adeoti.
The Lagos deliberation, insiders claim, was convened to reconcile interests within the party and possibly arrive at a consensus candidate.
However, as of the time of filing this report, the ADC leadership has not issued any official statement, and the party is yet to publicly announce its flagbearer for the 2026 governorship race.
Meanwhile, another report insisted that the ADC has not concluded its nomination process, dismissing claims of a completed primary as “an ignorant submission.”
“ADC is yet to pick its candidate. The Omoluabi Progressives only had an internal arrangement within its fold. Until the ADC comes together formally, no official statement is in order,” the statement read.
