Osun APM backs Governor Makinde for 2027 presidential race

The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Osun State has endorsed Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.

The declaration was made on Thursday when the party’s Primary Election Committee announced candidates for National and State Assembly seats across federal and state constituencies.

Speaking, Chairman of the APM Primary Election Committee, Hon. Adewale Adebayo, said Makinde’s endorsement followed the successful conduct of the party’s primary elections across the 332 wards in Osun State.

“After the successful conduct of our primaries, we have today affirmed His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, the sole presidential aspirant of our great party, as the presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement for the 2027 general election,” he said.

Adebayo described the outcome of the primaries as a reflection of unity, consensus, and shared conviction among party members regarding the future of the party and the nation.

He noted that the affirmation followed the peaceful and successful conduct of the exercise across the 332 wards in Osun State without any hitch, rancour, or disruption.

According to him, “In every generation, political movements survive not only by competition, but by cohesion, discipline, and collective purpose. Today, APM is sending that message clearly and boldly. The affirmation of our candidates across all elective positions reflects the confidence of the party in credible leadership and our determination to move forward as one united political family. Sometimes, the strongest democracy is not in division, but in agreement built on trust, consultation, and common vision.”

Adebayo also called on members and supporters of the PDP and other Nigerians to embrace the APM, describing the party as a credible platform to resist what he termed attempts by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to weaken opposition voices in the country.
