Oyo police arrest teenager over alleged defilement of three-year-old girl

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a 17-year-old boy, identified as Usman Dauda, over the alleged defilement of a three-year-old girl in Saki.

Informing journalists on Thursday, the command’s spokesperson, Olayinka Ayanlade, said the arrest followed a distress report lodged at the Saki Divisional Police Station on Sept. 17, 2026, after the child went missing while she was being picked up from school that afternoon.

According to the police, officers and residents launched a search for the girl and later found her by the roadside in a distressed condition. Preliminary inquiries reportedly indicated that the suspect had taken her by force to his apartment.

Following the discovery, detectives visited and secured the location, leading to the arrest of the suspect and the recovery of physical evidence allegedly linked to the incident.

Ayanlade said the child was immediately taken to a medical facility in Saki, where she is receiving clinical treatment and psychotherapeutic care.

He said the command was committed to protecting the privacy, dignity and identity of the child and her family throughout the investigation, in line with the Child Rights Act and established ethical guidelines.

The police further disclosed that the case had been transferred to the Gender Desk of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Iyaganku, Ibadan, for further investigation and prosecution.

The command urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspected cases of violence against children and other vulnerable persons to the nearest police station, assuring the public of its commitment to protecting residents and ensuring that those responsible face the law.
