PHOTO NEWS: Shettima arrives UN HQ for opening of 81st UNGA General Debate

Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived at the United Nations Headquarters in New York for the opening of the General Debate of the 81st United Nations General Assembly.

Shettima is representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and leading Nigeria’s delegation to the global gathering.

He was accompanied by senior members of the Nigerian delegation, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, among other officials.

The General Debate opened with addresses by Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and United States President Donald Trump, as world leaders presented their countries’ positions on major international issues.

The session brings together Heads of State and Government to deliberate on issues including global peace and security, sustainable development, climate change, economic cooperation and reform of the international system.

Shettima’s participation comes as Nigeria joins other member states in discussions on global challenges and priorities at the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.
