FG to train, equip 200 youths in Oyo with vocational skills

The federal government will train and equip 200 youths in Oyo State with vocational skills and start-up tools under the National Poverty Reduction and Growth Strategy (NPRGS).

The programme, organised through the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Technical, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Education (OSSAP-TVEE), will run from September 28 to October 9, 2026.

The initiative will begin in Oyo State before expanding to the six geopolitical zones to increase access to skills training, start-up tools, and livelihood opportunities for young Nigerians.

According to a statement by Dr Abiola Arogundade, Senior Special Assistant to the President on TVEE, beneficiaries will be trained in three areas: Graphics/Artificial Intelligence (AI), makeup and fashion designing.

Participants will also receive training kits to enable them to start or expand their businesses after completing the programme.

Those trained in Graphics/AI will receive laptops, while makeup trainees will receive fully equipped makeup kits. Fashion design trainees will receive sewing machines and starter kits.

The programme will end with a graduation ceremony and grand finale on October 9.

Arogundade said 500 tablets would also be distributed to young Nigerians during the grand finale as part of the Federal Government’s digital empowerment programme.
