President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday cut the ribbon to reopen Abuja’s landmark event arena—freshly refurbished and officially rebranded as the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre (BAT-ICC).
The renaming was announced by Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike.

Wike said the change honours the President’s push to modernise key infrastructure in the capital and underscores a new maintenance culture for national assets.

During the ceremony, President Tinubu applauded the minister’s pace of work and urged him to ignore “busybodies and bystanders,” calling Wike “a transformational leader with foresight, vision, and determination.”

The upgraded BAT-ICC—now featuring a 7,000-seat plenary hall, revamped meeting suites, and cutting-edge AV systems—reopens just in time for Democracy Day events and upcoming international summits in the FCT.
