Police recover another corpse after killing of ‘Emir’ in Ile-Ife

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –
The Osun State Police Command has recovered another corpse in Ile-Ife, where Olalekan Oyeyemi, popularly known as ‘Emir Ajagungbade’, was killed.
It would be recalled that Emir was shot dead on Sunday during a clash involving him and a group led by another faction of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) at the Mayfair Motor Park in Ile-Ife.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Ojelabi, disclosed this to newsmen on Monday, saying the newly recovered corpse had been deposited in a morgue.
Ojelabi said the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Zungura, had directed that the investigation into Emir’s killing be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for discreet investigation.
The PPRO advised those mentioned or implicated in connection with the incident, and who had anything to say, to report to the nearest police station rather than resorting to social media. He said the commissioner of police had promised that all those involved would be apprehended and made to face the law, irrespective of who they were.
Meanwhile, the remains of Emir have been interred at his newly completed residence in the Agunbelewo area of Osogbo.
However, before the body was released by the Osun State University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, suspected hoodlums said to be associates of the deceased attacked a staff member of the hospital who raised his phone to record the gathering near the administrative block.
The staff member was attacked, while his phone was smashed and burnt by some youths protesting the killing of their leader. The chief security officer of the institution was also attacked when he attempted to rescue the staff member from the mob.
