President Tinubu celebrates customs CG Adewale Adeniyi on 59th birthday

President Bola Tinubu has extended warm congratulations to Adewale Adeniyi, the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), on his 59th birthday, celebrated on January 19.

In a statement released by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, President Tinubu commended Adeniyi’s transformative leadership since his appointment in June 2023.

He highlighted the Comptroller-General’s efforts in driving the digitalization and automation of Customs operations, enhancing professionalism, and boosting officers’ morale to achieve exceptional results.

“His leadership has enabled the NCS to exceed revenue targets significantly and improve trade facilitation, yielding widespread benefits for the national economy,” the President remarked.

President Tinubu also praised Adeniyi’s innovative anti-smuggling initiatives, which include equipping youths with new skills for alternative livelihoods, engaging traditional institutions, and fostering a culture of effective communication and mutual respect.

The President noted other significant achievements under Adeniyi’s leadership, such as major arms and ammunition seizures and the revitalization of the Comptroller-General’s Annual Conference, aimed at evaluating and enhancing the agency’s operations.

He affirmed that Adeniyi’s over 30 years of extensive service experience and adaptability have significantly enriched the Customs Service.

President Tinubu concluded by offering prayers for divine wisdom, good health, and continued strength for Comptroller-General Adeniyi as he continues to serve the nation.
