Protest: Security agencies display strength in Osun

A combined team of security operatives in Osun State conducted a show of force in Osogbo metropolis on Wednesday.
The security team included the Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigerian Army, and the Department of State Services (DSS).
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, SP Yemisi Opalola, stated in a telephone conversation that the exercise was being carried out in anticipation of the planned nationwide protest on August 1.
Opalola explained that the exercise aimed to prevent hoodlums from hijacking the protest and to ensure that the state remained peaceful.
Areas secured by the law enforcement officials as at the time of filing this report include Oke-Fia, Alekuwodo, Olaiya, Fagbewesa, Oke-Baale, and Ayetoro among others in the state capital.
