Shettima urges Plateau leaders to unite at Governor Mutfwang’s daughter’s wedding

Vice President Kashim Shettima has called on political and community leaders in Plateau State to work together to foster unity and unlock the state’s economic potential.
Shettima made the appeal on Saturday while representing President Bola Tinubu at the wedding reception of Nanbam Mutfwang, daughter of Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang, and her husband, Jeremiah Ayodele, in Jos.
Speaking at the reception held at Lang Field along Barkin Ladi Road, the Vice President described the marriage as a symbol of national unity, noting that it brought together families from Northern and Southern Nigeria.
“We need to build bridges; we need to embrace one another. Challenges bring forth the character of leaders,” Shettima said.
He urged Plateau stakeholders to set aside political, ethnic and religious differences and work collectively to transform the state into an economic hub despite its security and developmental challenges.
According to him, the state has the human and natural resources needed to change its economic fortunes if its leaders remain united.
Governor Caleb Mutfwang, in his remarks, thanked the Vice President for attending the ceremony and conveyed appreciation to President Tinubu for the Federal Government’s support. He also acknowledged ongoing federal efforts to improve security in Plateau and other parts of the country, expressing optimism about the state’s future.
Among the dignitaries at the event were Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction Dr Bernard Mohammed Doro, APC National Chairman Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Idris Wase, and Director-General of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Professor Ayo Omotayo.
