Tinubu celebrates Afenifere chieftain Abagun Omololu at 70

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Abagun Kole Omololu, a prominent chieftain of the Yoruba socio-political organisation Afenifere, on his 70th birthday.

In a statement issued on Monday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described Abagun Omololu as a man of integrity, loyalty, and unwavering commitment to nation-building and the preservation of Yoruba cultural heritage.

President Tinubu noted that the Afenifere leader has, for decades, remained at the forefront of the struggle for democracy, good governance, and the promotion of unity and solidarity in Yorubaland.

According to the statement, Abagun Omololu played a significant role in the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) Abroad, helping to internationalise the struggle for the validation of the June 12, 1993, presidential election and the end of military rule in Nigeria. He is also a prominent member of Idile Odua.

The President further commended Omololu’s principled leadership within Afenifere, highlighting his steadfast support for the organisation’s leader, Chief Reuben Fasoranti.

President Tinubu also acknowledged Abagun Omololu’s consistent support for him and the Renewed Hope administration.

As the Afenifere chieftain marks what the President described as the “biblical age of three score and ten,” Tinubu prayed for his long life, good health, and continued wisdom.
