Tinubu promotes Acting Chief of Army Staff Oluyede

…pledges progress for Nigerians

President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday promoted the acting Chief of Army Staff, Major General Olufemi Olatubosun Oluyede, to the rank of Lieutenant General in a ceremony at the State House, Abuja.

During the decoration ceremony held in the President’s office, Tinubu praised the military’s dedication, courage, and patriotism in safeguarding the nation.

“It is both an honour and a privilege to decorate you today,” President Tinubu remarked. “This promotion reflects your commitment to the Nigerian military and your exemplary service record. We recognize your efforts to ensure Nigeria remains safe and stable.”

The President assured the military of the government’s readiness to support them, emphasizing that the administration values their expertise in maintaining national security and stability. “We are facing challenges, but progress is being made,” he added.

Tinubu credited recent successes against terrorism and banditry to the “synergy” within the armed forces and encouraged continued unity among the service chiefs for the nation’s benefit. “The cooperation among you has brought calm to the country, and we need that stability to continue. We must assure all Nigerians that prosperity is within reach,” Tinubu stated.

Lt. Gen. Oluyede expressed his gratitude for the honor, committing himself to uphold the vision of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, and to contribute to the peace and security of the nation.

Lt. Gen. Oluyede, service number N/9318, began his military career with the Nigerian Army’s 39 Regular Course, receiving his Regular Combatant Commission as a second lieutenant on September 19, 1992, with seniority dated from September 12, 1987.

Throughout his career, Oluyede has participated in key operations, including the Economic Community of West African States Monitoring Group (ECOMOG) mission in Liberia, Operation Harmony IV in Bakassi, and Operation Hadin Kai in the North East.
