Veteran Nigerian actor and educator, Kola Oyewo has revealed why he stopped his younger colleague Foluke Daramola from raising funds for him when he was critically sick.
Oyewo made this known in a video recently released by Kunle Afod, where he narrated his battle with prostate cancer.
The ‘Saworo Ide’ star actor disclosed that while he was critically ill and had to go through a series of surgeries during his battle with prostate cancer his children were around to support him.
He noted that while recuperating, Foluke Daramola, who has embarked on a mission of supporting ailing veteran actors and actresses, visited him to check on him.
He said while he appreciated the gesture, he warned and stopped her from seeking funds or donations to further help him since he was comfortable and his children were capable enough.
In 1996, Oyewo joined the services of Obafemi Awolowo University, where he rose to the rank of senior lecturer before retiring in September 2011. After his retirement from Obafemi Awolowo University, he joined the services of Redeemer’s University, where he currently serves as head of the department of dramatic art until his retirement.
