Oluremi Tinubu meets Qatari envoy, calls for global peace, understanding

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has urged nations to embrace peace and mutual understanding amid global tensions.

Speaking in Abuja on Wednesday while receiving the Ambassador of Qatar to Nigeria, Ali bin Ghanem Al-Hajri, the First Lady condemned recent attacks in Doha, Qatar’s capital, and stressed that peace remains central to both humanity and religion.

“We must continue to pray for a world filled with peace and stand firmly against the provocations of war. Peace, as espoused by major religions, is close to the heart of God,” Mrs. Tinubu said.

During the closed-door meeting, discussions focused on strengthening partnerships between the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) and the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, with particular emphasis on promoting the Almajiri system of education and tackling the challenge of out-of-school children in Nigeria.

Ambassador Al-Hajri, in his remarks, expressed Qatar’s gratitude to Nigeria for its solidarity and commitment to peace. He noted that the relationship between the two countries remains strong, describing Nigeria as “dear to the State of Qatar.”

The meeting is expected to open new avenues for collaboration in education and community development while reinforcing calls for peace and cooperation among nations.
