Fubara officially joins APC, receives membership card in Port Harcourt

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has been formally registered as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) after receiving his party membership card at the Government House, Port Harcourt.

The card was presented to him on Friday by Rivers State APC Chairman, Tony Okocha, who represented the APC National Chairman, Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda.

Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Fubara said his decision to join the APC was driven by his commitment to strengthening unity and accelerating development in Rivers State. He explained that aligning with the ruling party at the federal level had become essential for ensuring political stability and advancing key developmental goals.

Fubara added that his support for President Bola Tinubu goes beyond political alignment, describing it as an expression of gratitude for the President’s role in sustaining the Rivers State government during its most challenging moments.

He stressed that with Rivers State now aligned with the federal government under one political family, the plan to build a stronger APC structure and secure a smooth political trajectory towards 2027 has become clearer and more attainable.

The governor assured the party’s national leadership that Rivers State would remain a stronghold of the APC under his administration, pledging to fully support the party executive and sustain its activities across the state.

He also expressed appreciation to leaders and supporters who stood by him, urging them to intensify their efforts as the state begins what he called a new phase of political consolidation and development.

In his remarks, APC National Chairman Yilwatda, represented by Okocha, congratulated Fubara on his decision to join the party, describing the governor’s reasons for defecting as sound, patriotic, and in the best interest of Rivers State.

Yilwatda added that the governor’s entry into the APC marks a new chapter of unity among political leaders in the state, now coming together under one political family.
