JUST IN: Nasir El-Rufai to appear before EFCC February 16
Former Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, is scheduled to appear before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 16, 2026.
The development follows an alleged attempt by security operatives to arrest El-Rufai on Thursday at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, shortly after he returned from Cairo, Egypt, on Egypt Air flight MS 877.
El-Rufai’s lawyer, Ubong Esop Akpan, confirmed that the EFCC had issued an invitation to his client in December 2025 while he was abroad for medical treatment and rest.
He added that there had been ongoing communication with the EFCC, with assurances that El-Rufai would comply with the summons upon his return.
