Ambassadorial postings: President is spot on, by Kola Amzat
After months of waiting by the expectant nation, the president has eventually posted the ambassadorial nominees to their designated countries.
They are billed to resume immediately. The posting exercise came at a defining time when visible results of the president’s bold and transformational reforms are beginning to manifest with respect to unprecedented increase in crude-oil production presently standing at 1.71 million barrels/day, unification of hitherto multiple exchange rates, impressive performance of foreign reserves presently standing at $50 billion mark, record-breaking accomplishment of Nigeria Stock Exchange with market capitalization presently standing at ₦110 trillion mark, impressive positive Balance of Payment, as well as tax reforms anchored on four (4) pillars -(1) The Nigerian Tax Act, (2)Nigeria Revenue Service (Establishment), (3)Nigeria Tax Administration Act and (4) the Joint Revenue (Establishment) Act, that have all combined to seek streamline revenue administration, enhance compliance, strengthen intergovernmental coordination.
In addition to the above, the postings also came at the edge of preparation for another electoral cycle-2027 general elections.
Suffice to affirm that the new Ambassadors’ jobs and responsibilities are well cut out and deliberately defined.
Just like in Revelation 21:1 when Almighty God declared “new heaven and a new earth,” signalling the end of the old order, the removal of the sea (often symbolising chaos or separation), and the beginning of an eternal state where God dwells with humanity, marking a complete, purified restoration of all things and He commanded the Angels to invade the universe and announce the good tidings to the world.
In the same vein, the new Ambassadors are expected to proceed to all the nooks and crannies of the globe to start projecting positively the good news about Nigeria new brand, new image and order.
It’s incumbent on the new Ambassadors to start projecting our nation to their respective host countries as the land of opportunities, prospects, peace; land of hardworking, industrious and ambitious people who desire to collaborate with the global community to ensure orderliness, and by so doing, sway the people of the world from their negative beliefs of our dear country as land of oppression, insecurity, poverty and hopelessness, where nothing works.
Even though the president has dispatched 65 Ambassadors–31 career and 34 non-career, to all the nooks and crannies of the globe to spread gospels of good tidings about Nigeria, the posting of about five or six of them profoundly excites this Writer.
Distinguished Senator Jimoh Ibrahim’s designation as Nigeria UN permanent representative gladdens my heart and I believe, the hearts of generality of the Nigerian people.
The Ondo state born senator who is the chairman and chief executive officer of Global Fleet Group, a diversified conglomerate based in Nigeria, with business interests and subsidiaries in neighbouring West African countries, and armed with Law degree (LLB) and Master of Public Administration (MPA) second degree, with an award of Business Doctorate by the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom is profoundly and sufficiently grounded to proudly hoist the banner of the country in UN as permanent representative.
He also attended Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, US, where he graduated with a combined Master of Laws (LLM) and Master’s in International Taxation degree.
He is an Entrepreneur of immense repute with huge investments in virtually all sectors of the Nigerian economy.
Jimoh Ibrahim has been designated as Nigerian UN permanent representative at an AUSPICIOUS TIME when the country is frantically demanding UN to include Nigeria as permanent member of the highly revered Security Council.
Even though, President Tinubu has remarkably did well in pushing Nigeria case for the slot, Jimoh Ibrahim’s intellectual capacity, profound educational accomplishments, vast and tremendous experience in business ventures, as well as his unusual panache and confidence level would surely complement the brilliant and relentless efforts of our dear president, in making the country to breast the tape and eventually be confirmed as one of the permanent members of UN Security Council.
In addition to this, the distinguished Senator is also expected to advance Nigeria’s foreign policy objectives and promote its interests on the global stage. With his pedigree and rich antecedents in business endeavours and public life, there is no doubt that he has undoubted capacity to achieve this.
Meanwhile, the designation of Retired Col. Lateef Kayode Are as new Nigerian Ambassador to the United States is another posting capable of benefiting Nigerians immensely.
Kayode Are, a former intelligence chief, holds a first-class degree in Psychology and a master’s in International Law and Diplomacy and with over 33 years of experience in military and civilian intelligence is good enough to stabilise Nigerian-US diplomatic relationship.
President Tinubu unique diplomatic ingenuity, top-notch interpersonal relationship, high level of wisdom, helicopter view and discerning heart combined together to COMPLETELY DISARM President Trump in his quest to INDEED invade Nigeria with his troops, after he was obviously encouraged by top members of opposition groups that Christians were been persecuted.
Nigerians expect Retired Colonel Are to start where our dear president stop, with particular reference to evolve variety of way & means to CULTIVATING Donald Trump, not only in collaborating with Nigeria to draw curtains on banditry, insurgence and other criminalities, but, also massage his ego with a view to substantially improving the US-Nigeria business and investment relationship.
This Writer and generality of Nigerians also welcome the designation of Ambassador Aminu Muhammad Dalhatu as the new Nigerian High Commissioner to France with joy and enthusiasm.
Unlike many non-career appointees, Dalhatu comes from within the diplomatic system.
A veteran diplomat who previously served as Nigeria’s Ambassador to South Korea, the new Ambassador is expected to initiate bold reforms in the London High Commission, especially regarding the timely issuance of passports and reducing bureaucratic delays in consular services, as well as intensively engaging with Nigerians in the UK, addressing issues faced by students, professionals, and the wider community, promote trade and investment between Nigeria and the UK, and strengthening economic partnerships.
The appointment of the seasoned diplomat and former NIA Director-General, Ambassador Ayodele Oke, as Nigeria’s new Ambassador to France is also a welcome development.
The new Ambassador is expected to strengthen bilateral ties, particularly in security and economic cooperation, while improving Nigeria’s international image, boosting trade, investment, and agricultural partnerships between Nigeria and France, as well as leveraging expertise to enhance intelligence sharing and security ties.
Femi Fani-Kayode and Reno Omokri’s designation to Germany and Mexico respectively are also expected to herald a new dawn in diplomatic relationships and investment dealings between those countries and Nigeria.
Finally, Nigerians should commend the president for his big-heart, eagle-eyes, wisdom and discerning heart in identifying and designating as Ambassadors, Nigerians of strong character, immense skills and expertise, tremendous wealth of experience both in private and public sectors, as well as people that are genuinely ready to serve the nation..
