Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has congratulated Muslims in the state and across Nigeria on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir, calling on citizens to reflect on the values of sacrifice, obedience, compassion and love associated with the celebration.
Adeleke, in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, described Eid-el-Kabir as a period that highlights the importance of total submission to the will of Allah, as well as the need to promote peace, unity and kindness in society.
The governor noted that the spiritual lessons of the festival align with the vision of his administration, which, according to him, is anchored on service, fairness and commitment to the welfare of the people.
He urged residents of the state to use the festive period to assess the performance of his administration in key sectors such as infrastructure, healthcare, education, workers’ welfare and social development.
According to Adeleke, his government remains committed to delivering people-oriented governance and sustainable development across communities in the state, adding, “As you drive through our towns and villages, check through our deliveries and services to our people. We are committed to serving you now and at all times”.
Adeleke also reassured Muslim faithful and residents of the state of his administration’s commitment to religious harmony, inclusiveness and equal opportunities for all citizens, irrespective of religious or political affiliation.
While appreciating the support and cooperation of the people, the governor reiterated his resolve to sustain ongoing developmental efforts across the state, stressing that governance must reflect the aspirations and wellbeing of the masses.
He, however, warned against attempts by individuals to exploit religious or political sentiments to create division among residents, noting that Osun had continued to enjoy stability and development because the people embraced unity and collective progress.
