Kalu hails Otti over C-of-O approval for two federal tertiary institutions in Abia

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has commended Abia State Governor Alex Otti for approving Certificates of Occupancy (C-of-O) for two newly established federal tertiary institutions in Bende Local Government Area of the state.
The institutions are the Federal College of Education, Bende, and the Federal University of Medical and Health Sciences, Item, Bende.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by his chief press secretary, Levinus Nwabughiogu, the deputy speaker said the approvals would create employment opportunities and stimulate economic activities in Bende and other parts of Abia State.
Kalu, who represents Bende Federal Constituency, also noted that the governor’s approval would facilitate the take-off of the institutions and accelerate efforts to improve access to education and healthcare in the state.
President Bola Tinubu had in June 2025 assented to the bills sponsored by Kalu establishing the two institutions.
Kalu described the collaboration between his office and the Abia State Government as essential to the state’s development agenda, pledging to sustain efforts to attract more federal projects to the state.
“I commend His Excellency, Dr. Alex Otti, for this swift action. It is a synergy that works for the development of Abia State and our people in general,” Kalu said.
