Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, is expected to resume official duties on Monday after completing his two-week statutory annual leave.
The governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Olayinka Oyebode, disclosed this in a statement issued in Ado Ekiti, noting that Oyebanji remained abreast of key government activities and developments throughout the period of his leave.
According to Oyebode, the governor’s return comes as his administration steps up preparations for the commencement of his second term in office, following his victory in the June 20 governorship election.
Oyebanji’s first term is scheduled to end on October 15, while his renewed tenure is expected to commence on October 16, marking the beginning of another four-year period in office.
The governor secured re-election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, winning across all 16 local government areas of the state and becoming the first sitting governor in Ekiti State to win a second term.
Following his electoral victory, Oyebanji pledged to use the renewed mandate to consolidate the achievements of his administration, strengthen people-oriented programmes and sustain his commitment to good governance.
Meanwhile, preparations for the second term are expected to focus on consolidating ongoing projects and programmes while advancing policies aimed at improving the welfare and development of residents across the state.
Oyebode said the governor had returned with renewed energy and determination to serve the people of Ekiti State as preparations for the second phase of his administration gather momentum.
