Peter Obi attends Makinde’s presidential campaign launch
The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Party (NDC), Peter Obi, on Monday attended the launch of the presidential campaign of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) candidate, Seyi Makinde.
Obi arrived at the venue at about 12:31 p.m., as Makinde prepared to formally inaugurate his campaign office ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking at the event, Obi said his presence was to demonstrate solidarity and promote peaceful political engagement ahead of the election.
“I am here to show solidarity because we don’t want the politics of quarrel. We will support whoever wins in a free and fair election to better the lives of Nigerians,” he said.
Obi also expressed support for Makinde’s presidential ambition, saying the Oyo State governor was qualified to occupy the nation’s highest political office.
“Is Seyi Makinde qualified to be president of Nigeria? Yes, he is. What we want is to see Nigeria become great again,” he said.
Makinde is expected to use the occasion to officially commence his campaign activities as the APM’s presidential candidate for the 2027 election.
