The Ondo State Government has appealed to residents of Akure and other parts of the state to provide credible information on the sources of persistent offensive odours affecting their communities.
The state Ministry of Environment made the appeal in a public notice following renewed complaints from residents after a period of relative calm.
The ministry expressed concern over the development, saying it had conducted extensive investigations to identify and address the sources of the unpleasant smells.
It added that the complaints were being treated seriously because of the potential risks the odours could pose to public health and environmental safety.
The ministry assured residents that the government remained committed to exploring all available options to resolve the problem and protect affected communities from environmental hazards.
It therefore urged residents to report suspected sources of the odours and any activities that might be contributing to the nuisance. The ministry also encouraged members of the public to provide timely, reliable and useful information to support its investigations.
For complaints, enquiries and reports, residents can contact the ministry on 08033738102, 08030730479, 08030708773 or 08068280025.
The ministry reiterated its commitment to protecting public health and the environment, urging residents to cooperate with the authorities by providing relevant information to help bring the problem under control.
