Oyebanji reappoints Akin Oyebode, Filani as commissioners in Ekiti

By Boye Oyeyemi –
Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has nominated Akintunde Oyebode and Oyebanji Filani for reappointment as commissioners in his second-term administration, alongside Dayo Apata (SAN), who is to return as Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice.
The governor has forwarded the names of the three nominees to the State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation, barely 10 days after his inauguration for a second term in office.
In a letter addressed to the Speaker of the Assembly, Adeoye Aribasoye, on Monday, Oyebanji also sought approval for the appointment of 10 special advisers to assist in the day-to-day administration of the state.
Oyebode, who is being nominated for the Finance portfolio, and Filani, nominated for Health and Human Services, both served in the same positions during the governor’s first term.
Apata is also being nominated to return as Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, a position the state government described as constitutionally required.
According to a statement by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Olayinka Oyebode, the proposed appointments are intended to ensure continuity in critical sectors and strengthen the administration’s capacity to deliver on its mandate.
The governor considers the finance and health portfolios crucial to the effective take-off of his second term, particularly in view of prevailing developments in the country.
Oyebanji had, last week, approved appointments in the power, road infrastructure and transportation sectors as his administration began constituting its team for the new term.
