The Ondo State Government has begun issuing appointment letters to 637 teachers whose applications were affected by irregularities during the 2025 recruitment exercise.
The Chairman of the Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Princess Olufunmilayo Ademulegun-Brown, announced this during the presentation of appointment letters at the board’s headquarters in Akure.
She said the move fulfilled a commitment made by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa earlier this year to accommodate applicants who were affected by the recruitment setbacks but met the required qualifications.
Addressing the beneficiaries, Ademulegun-Brown urged them to approach their new roles with dedication, discipline and professionalism, stressing the importance of their responsibilities in improving basic education across the state.
She advised the teachers to be punctual, prepare their lessons adequately and uphold the ethical standards of the profession. She also urged them to serve as positive role models by promoting academic excellence and good moral conduct among pupils.
Similarly, the board’s Permanent Secretary, Princess Abike Bayo-Ilawole, advised the newly appointed teachers to familiarise themselves with and comply with the board’s operational procedures. She emphasised that diligence, discipline and effective collaboration with relevant officials were essential for efficient service delivery.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Omotayo Abednego Arogbowei thanked the state government for giving them the opportunity to serve. She assured the government that the teachers would work towards strengthening teaching and learning in public primary schools.
Arogbowei added that the beneficiaries were committed to supporting the academic and moral development of pupils, expressing their readiness to contribute to the improvement of the state’s education sector.
