JUST IN: Former FCT minister dumps PDP for APC, backs Tinubu, Alli

In a significant political realignment ahead of the 2027 general elections, former Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Oloye Jumoke Akinjide, has officially declared her support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The prominent Oyo State politician and former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain simultaneously endorsed the governorship ambition of Senator Sharafadeen Alli, who is seeking to lead Oyo State under the banner of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Her formal entry into the ruling party was confirmed on Tuesday through an official statement issued by her Special Assistant, Hon. Olatundun Leke Gabriel (JP).
Driven by the political slogan “JUMOKE IS COMING – RENEWED HOPE 2027”, her transition marks the inception of what she described as a transformative journey towards renewed public service.
Explaining her political shift, Akinjide noted that her decision to join the APC aligns directly with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and Senator Alli’s vision for the governance of Oyo State.
Expressing deep appreciation, the former minister extended heartfelt gratitude to her political mentors, loyal supporters, and well-wishers for their unwavering dedication and prayers over the years.
Consequently, she charged her supporters across Oyo State and beyond to remain steadfast, prayerful, and united as she takes this bold step, assuring them that further directives on engagement will be communicated shortly.
To launch her mobilisation efforts, Akinjide instructed her followers to turn out en masse on Tuesday for Senator Alli’s manifesto unveiling at Theophilus Ogunlesi Hall, opposite the University College Hospital (UCH) main gate in Ibadan.
