Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has inaugurated a residential care home for older adults established by veteran Nollywood actress, Sola Sobowale, in Ibadan, the state capital.
The facility, known as Joseph & Esther Homes, is located in the Akobo area of Ibadan and is designed to provide a safe and supportive environment where older people can receive residential and professional care.
The inauguration, held on Tuesday, November 3, also featured the unveiling of Sobowale’s book, titled Built From the Break. The event attracted several dignitaries and prominent figures in the entertainment industry.
Among those present were veteran actors Adebayo Salami, Ibrahim Chatta, Femi Adebayo and filmmaker Kunle Afolayan, who joined other guests to celebrate the actress’s new venture.
Joseph & Esther Homes is designed to allow residents to maintain some level of independence while receiving assistance and professional care suited to their needs. The facility operates under the tagline, “Live Well, Age Well, Thrive Together”, and describes itself as “A Place to Call Home”.
Makinde’s presence at the ceremony highlighted the significance of the initiative, which seeks to provide dedicated residential support for older adults. The opening also marked Sobowale’s expansion into organised residential care beyond her longstanding career in the Nigerian film industry.
The event was streamed live on Sobowale’s Instagram page, allowing her followers and admirers to watch the inauguration. One of its emotional highlights was a tribute celebrating the actress’s vision, resilience and caring nature.
With the establishment of Joseph & Esther Homes, Sobowale has ventured into a sector focused on providing structured residential care and support for older people, adding a new dimension to her activities outside the entertainment industry.
