APC flags off 2027 campaign in Enugu, seeks re-election of Mbah, Tinubu

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State has flagged off its campaign for the 2027 general elections, pledging to mobilise voters for the re-election of Governor Peter Mbah and President Bola Tinubu.
The campaign flag-off, held at Nsukka Township Stadium on Wednesday, attracted party leaders, political office holders, traditional rulers, community leaders and supporters from across the state’s three senatorial districts.
Addressing the gathering, Mbah highlighted his administration’s achievements in infrastructure, security, education, healthcare and economic development, urging residents to assess his performance through completed and ongoing projects. He also criticised the opposition for allegedly failing to present a manifesto.
Speaking on infrastructure, the governor said the ongoing dualisation of the Penoks-T-Junction-Ugwogo-Opi-Nsukka Road had reduced travel time and improved safety. He also cited the 40-kilometre Owo-Ubahu-Amankanu-Umualor-Ikem dual carriageway as part of efforts to improve connectivity and open up communities.
On education and healthcare, Mbah said his administration had recruited more than 6,000 additional teachers and was constructing Type-2 Primary Healthcare Centres across the state’s 260 electoral wards. He added that the Smart Green Schools initiative was designed to improve learning and equip children with skills for the modern economy.
The governor also listed the reopening of the Presidential Hotel, International Conference Centre, United Farm Products Limited, Songhai Enugu Integrated Farm and Sunrise Rice Flour Mill as efforts to revive the state’s economy. He disclosed that Enugu Air would commence direct flights to London within weeks, with services to the United States and China expected before the end of the first quarter of 2027. “We are not measured by our words; we are measured by our results. We don’t say things that we don’t deliver on. What we commit to, we deliver,” he said.
Mbah reiterated his administration’s commitment to its 10,000-kilometre road construction target and disclosed that the state had approved N32 billion to settle inherited pension and gratuity liabilities dating back to 2000. He also commended Tinubu for establishing the South East Development Commission and other federal interventions in the region.
Earlier, Deputy Governor Ifeanyi Ossai urged residents to sustain the administration’s development programmes through their votes, accusing the opposition of spreading disinformation. Other speakers, including former Anambra State Governor Jim Nwobodo, represented by Okey Ogbodo, APC Deputy National Chairman (South) Ben Nwoye and state party chairman Martin Chukwunwike, expressed confidence in the party’s chances in the 2027 elections.
