Tinubu returns to Abuja after visits to Akwa Ibom, Rivers
President Bola Tinubu has returned to Abuja after a two-state visit to Akwa Ibom and Rivers, where he defended his economic reforms, sought support for his re-election and announced major infrastructure commitments.
In Akwa Ibom, Tinubu approved the proposed Ibom Deep Sea Port following a request by Governor Umo Eno, describing the project as a catalyst for economic development.
The President also acknowledged the hardship caused by his economic policies but maintained that the reforms had prevented Nigeria from sliding into bankruptcy.
In Rivers, Tinubu appealed to residents to support his second-term ambition in 2027, promising greater economic prosperity, improved education, healthcare and youth development.
He also commended Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for their roles in restoring political peace in the state.
During the visits, Tinubu commissioned projects in Akwa Ibom and inaugurated the Bonny-Bodo Road in Rivers.
