Adeleke calls for arrest of factional NURTW boss Oyewole

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has called on security agencies to arrest Kazeem Oyewole, popularly known as Asiri Eniba, and other alleged All Progressives Congress (APC) thugs whom he accused of leading attacks in motor parks.

In a statement issued on Monday by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke condemned the repeated shootings and intimidation of innocent residents at the Old Garage and other motor parks in Osogbo.

He also decried what he described as a situation in which the police allegedly provided cover for Asiri Eniba and other APC thugs involved in the disruption of public peace.

“I have personally called the attention of the Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, and other service chiefs to these open attacks on public peace. I demand the immediate arrest of Asiri Eniba for this open defiance of public security,” he said.

The governor condemned the reported shootings at the Old Garage and other motor parks in Osogbo, alleging that innocent residents and commuters were targeted during the violence.

Adeleke, who questioned what kind of protest would target innocent commuters at motor parks, said his administration might review its support for the NURTW in Osun motor parks.

“I believe the Nurudeen Alowonle leadership of the Osun NURTW will call its members to order. If this Asiri Eniba’s disorderly conduct continues, our government may be forced to revert to the Park Management System across Osun motor parks,” the governor said.

The statement comes amid heightened tension in parts of Osogbo, the state capital, following protests by rival transport union factions and subsequent clashes that prompted the deployment of police operatives to motor parks across the state.
