APC chieftain Olaosebikan pens posthumous anniversary tribute to Ajimobi, lauds legacy

An All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain and Chief Executive Officer of Midas Communications Limited, Kehinde Olaosebikan, has praised the political legacy of former Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi.
In a statement commemorating the sixth anniversary of Ajimobi’s passing on Wednesday, Olaosebikan described the late governor as a political leader whose impact continues to shape public service and political developments in Oyo State and beyond. He noted that Ajimobi’s influence has endured through the individuals he mentored and the structures he established during his years in office.
According to him, Ajimobi made history as the first governor of Oyo State to secure re-election for a second term, a feat he said remains a significant milestone in the state’s democratic history. He added that the former governor’s achievements have continued to attract recognition years after he left office.
The former Oluyole LG boss also highlighted the role of Ajimobi’s family in public service, noting that his widow, Chief Mrs Florence Ajimobi, currently serves as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Austria. He described her as an influential figure in progressive politics who has remained active in public affairs since the former governor’s death.
The APC chieftain further referenced the public service engagements of Ajimobi’s children, saying their contributions in different capacities reflect the enduring values of leadership and service associated with the family. He noted that the late governor’s family continues to play visible roles in national development.
He stated that several former aides and political associates of Ajimobi currently occupy strategic positions in government and public institutions across the country. Among those he mentioned were the Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, Dr Zacch Adedeji, as well as serving lawmakers and other senior government officials.
According to Olaosebikan, the prominence of many individuals who worked with the former governor demonstrates his commitment to mentoring future leaders and creating opportunities for political growth. He maintained that Ajimobi’s contributions to leadership development remain evident in the careers of many of his former associates.
He urged political leaders and beneficiaries of Ajimobi’s mentorship to uphold the values of service, discipline and commitment that the late governor represented. He also prayed for the repose of Ajimobi’s soul, describing him as one of the most influential political figures in the history of Oyo State.
