Media executive Akinyemi Bolaji mourns Abese Olubadan’s death

The Chief Executive Officer of Pace Media Concept, Dr. Akinyemi Rasaq Akanmu Bolaji, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the Abese Olubadan of Ibadanland, Chief Lekan Alabi, describing him as a distinguished statesman whose legacy of service, leadership and cultural preservation will endure for generations.

In a condolence message issued on Saturday, Akinyemi said although Alabi’s passing was painful, his remarkable contributions to media, governance and the promotion of Yoruba culture would remain a source of inspiration.

He recalled that in October 2025, during the celebration of Alabi’s 75th birthday, Pace Media Concept served as the managing editor of the commemorative book,
“Media, Governance and Culture,” produced in honour of the late Ibadan chief.

According to him, the publication, which featured a foreword by Chief Julie Coker, the second female appearance presenter on Africa’s first television station, WNTV, Ibadan, was formally launched in London in recognition of Alabi’s immense contributions to media, governance and cultural development.

Akinyemi noted that the book remains a lasting testament to Alabi’s vision, leadership and commitment to nation-building, adding that Pace Media Concept was honoured to have documented and celebrated his achievements.

“We are deeply consoled by the fact that Chief lived a life of impact, service and dignity. We remain grateful for the opportunity to document and celebrate his legacy through this work,” he said.

He prayed that Almighty Allah would forgive the late chief’s shortcomings, accept his good deeds and grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus.

Akinyemi also extended his condolences to the family of the late chief, praying that they receive the strength and comfort to bear the irreparable loss.
