APC demands probe of teenager’s killing in Osun, distances Oyebamiji from violence

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has condemned the killing of a 14-year-old boy, Ezekiel Olapade, in Ilobu, Irepodun Local Government Area, describing the incident as wicked, inconsiderate and barbaric.

In a statement issued on Monday by the party’s Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, the APC called on the Osun State Police Command to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure that anyone connected to the teenager’s death is brought to justice.

The party expressed sympathy with the family of the deceased and the Ilobu community, describing the killing as a needless act that cut short the life of a promising young boy.

The APC also reacted to claims linking its governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, to acts of violence, insisting that he does not believe in violence and has never sponsored attacks against any individual or group.

“We want to state without mincing words that our governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, does not believe in violence and has never sponsored, and will never sponsor, violence against any individual or group of persons. It is his belief that no political ambition is worth the blood of any person,” the statement said.

The party further warned individuals using political activities as a cover to perpetrate violence to desist, stressing that such conduct does not reflect the values of the APC or its governorship candidate.

Meanwhile, Kareem, who has been identified in connection with the incident, denied any involvement in the killing in a video circulated on social media.

He claimed that he serves as an executive assistant to the chairman of the local government and was in Osogbo throughout Sunday when the incident occurred, alleging that operatives of the Amotekun Corps and political thugs affiliated with the Accord Party were responsible for the violence.
