APC dismisses Adeleke’s allegations, accuses PDP/Accord supporters of attacks

The Osun State All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Campaign Council on Tuesday dismissed Governor Ademola Adeleke’s allegation that supporters of its governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), were behind the violence reported in parts of the state, accusing PDP and Accord Party supporters of attacking its members and campaign assets.
The council alleged that campaign buses belonging to the APC were attacked and vandalised in the Owode-Ede area of the state, leaving several supporters injured and campaign materials destroyed.
In a statement signed by the head of its media and publicity committee, Engr. Oluremi Omowaiye, the council called on security agencies to investigate the incidents and bring those responsible to justice.
“Only this morning, Tuesday, June 9, 2026, campaign buses belonging to the APC were attacked and vandalised by suspected PDP/Accord hoodlums in the Owode-Ede area. The attack left several AMBO supporters severely injured, while valuable campaign materials and property were destroyed.
“Such brazen acts of violence have no place in a democratic society and should worry every well-meaning citizen of Osun State,” the statement read in part.
Omowaiye expressed grave concern over what he described as an alarming rise in politically motivated violence in the state. He stated that many innocent citizens had reportedly suffered injuries in the violence, while law-abiding residents continued to live in fear as criminal elements allegedly turned parts of Osogbo into scenes of unrest.
The APC Governorship Campaign Council appealed to the Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, and other relevant security agencies to urgently address the rising tide of political violence in Osun State.
“We specifically call for the immediate investigation and arrest of those responsible for the attack and destruction of APC campaign buses in Owode-Ede, as well as the violence and chaos witnessed across Osogbo today,” it added.
