Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany has reportedly been taken to hospital after collapsing during a training session on Friday.

According to German newspaper Bild, the 40-year-old Belgian has been battling a viral infection that has made it difficult for him to climb stairs.

Kompany reportedly collapsed during the club’s training session, prompting an emergency response at Bayern’s training ground in Munich.

A rescue helicopter was said to have landed at the club’s Säbener Straße facility before the former Manchester City and Burnley manager was transported by ambulance to a hospital emergency department.

The infection has reportedly affected old scar tissue, although details of his condition remain unclear.

The incident comes days after Bayern Munich’s Champions League clash with Arsenal.

The German champions have yet to issue an official statement on Kompany’s condition, with further updates awaited.
