FG investing heavily in intelligence, surveillance to tackle insecurity — Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu says the federal government is investing heavily in intelligence gathering, surveillance systems and technology-driven security operations as part of efforts to tackle insecurity across the country.

Speaking during his nationwide broadcast to mark the third anniversary of his administration on Friday, President Tinubu outlined ongoing measures by his administration aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s response to terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, oil theft and other criminal activities.

He said security remains central to the government’s mission of building a safe and prosperous nation, noting that security agencies have intensified coordinated operations across various regions.

“Our Armed Forces and security agencies have intensified operations against terrorists, bandits, kidnappers, oil thieves, and criminal networks,” the President said.

Tinubu explained that the government is prioritising investments in intelligence-led policing, surveillance infrastructure, logistics support and improved coordination among security agencies.

He said these efforts are aimed at improving operational effectiveness and ensuring quicker response to security threats across the country.

According to him, the government is also working to enhance the capacity of the armed forces and other security agencies to reclaim areas affected by criminal activities.

The President acknowledged that insecurity remains a challenge but said progress is being recorded, with some communities and major highways becoming safer and more economically active.
