Global Tijaniyya leaders pray for Tinubu, mourn Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi

The Supreme Council of Tijaniyya Worldwide has offered prayers for President Bola Tinubu and condoled with him over the death of renowned Islamic scholar and former leader of the Tijaniyya movement in Nigeria, Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi.

A delegation comprising senior leaders of the council from Algeria, Senegal and Nigeria, alongside members of the Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi Foundation led by Khalifa Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, visited the President at the State House in Abuja on Friday.

The delegation, which said it represented more than 400 million members of the Tijaniyya movement worldwide, was led by the Khalifa of Tijaniyya in Algeria, Sheikh Ali Bin Arabi.

Delivering the condolence message, Sheikh Ali highlighted the longstanding spiritual, social and economic ties between Nigeria and Algeria and prayed for stronger relations between both countries.

“We will continue to pray for the sustenance of the spiritual relationship between Nigeria and Algeria,” he said.

The cleric also prayed for “peace and love in Nigeria” as well as “physical and spiritual health” for President Tinubu.

Responding, the President thanked the delegation for the condolence visit and paid tribute to the late Islamic leader.

“We miss our father, Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi. He was a beloved father and a great leader,” Tinubu said.

The President also commended the Tijaniyya movement for its contribution to the propagation of Islam across Africa and beyond.

“I respect you for what you are doing for Islam across Africa and the whole world. May God continue to guide you,” he said.
