Goods, properties worth millions of naira destroyed as fire razes Sokoto market
Fire has razed the popular Sokoto’s Kara Grains Market, destroying grains and properties worth millions of naira.
The inferno was reportedly occurred at the market on Saturday and destroyed over 50 grinding shops, with many nearby houses also affected.
Although the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
The Sokoto State Emergency Management Agency and the National Emergency Management Agency responded to the disaster by conducting a joint assessment of the affected area.
Officials visited the damaged parts of Kara Market to evaluate the situation and reassured the victims of their commitment to providing support in the aftermath of the fire.
SEMA’s Director of Relief, Mustapha Umar, said, “Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing, and authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant and report any signs of fire hazards around them.”
