A 30-year-old shoemaker, Olalekan Osuntuyi, has been remanded at a correctional centre in Ondo State for allegedly recording his female co-tenant while bathing and demanding money from her.
Osuntuyi was arraigned before an Akure Magistrate’s Court on a charge of conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace. However, he pleaded not guilty to the allegation.
The police prosecutor, D.O. Ifidon, told the court that the defendant allegedly used an iPhone XR to record the woman, identified as Blessing Salami, while she was bathing. He allegedly sent the video to her and demanded money.
According to the prosecutor, the incident occurred at about 5:30 p.m. in February 2026 at No. 1, Okoro Tinubu Street, Isolo, Akure, within the court’s jurisdiction.
The charge was filed under Section 249(d) of the Criminal Code, Cap. 37, Volume 1, Laws of Ondo State, 2006, which addresses the alleged offence.
Following the defendant’s plea, Ifidon told the court that the prosecution had three witnesses and requested an adjournment to prepare for trial.
The prosecutor also urged the court to deny the defendant bail, arguing that his continued residence in the same house as the complainant could provide an opportunity for him to interfere with the proceedings.
In his ruling, Magistrate O. Omotosho ordered that Osuntuyi be remanded at the correctional centre and adjourned the case until November 6, 2026, for consideration of his bail application.
